There’s no doubt that New Yorkers love their food – and if it’s New York style, it has to be good! At the Time Hotel New York, we’re proud to host one of the most popular and highly-rated restaurants in NYC, Serafina.
The Serafina group of restaurants grew from a surprising story: two friends lost at sea conceived a restaurant plan to keep themselves motivated to survive. Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato were literally lost at sea in a small sailboat, clothed only in bathing suits and suffering from vicious cold, ferocious weather, and extreme hunger. The two friends dreamed of creating the perfect pizza using Fabio’s architectural expertize to create a revolutionary oven and Vittorio’s talent with classic Neapolitan cuisine. Serafina and a brilliant gourmet partnership were both born during their ordeal.
After surviving, in 1995 they fulfilled the vow they had made to open a restaurant that served the best pizza and pasta available anyplace in the world. Their renowned food empire has since grown to include multiple locations worldwide. Luckily, our hotel was chosen to host one of their many Italian restaurants, and these five fabulous dishes attest to the great taste behind their success.
Tartare Di Sofia
If you’re a sushi or ceviche lover, this may just become your newest passion. Fresh, raw tuna and salmon are marinated in their very own special sauce and prepared the classic Italian way. Perfect for either an appetizer to share or a small main dish, you’ll be utterly delighted!
Penne Alla Stolichnaya
With sauce made from fresh Italian peeled tomatoes, pieces of bacon, a splash of vodka, and a touch of cream, this pasta will delight and fulfill. All of Serafina’s pastas are traditionally cooked in Italian al dente style, and gluten free and whole wheat pasta are both available as options.
Farfalle Al Limoncello
For something just a bit lighter, try this incredible dish featuring bow tie pasta lightly tossed with baby shrimps and a unique sauce made from lemon zest, lemon juice, and just a touch of cream. Absolutely delicious!
Filet Mignon Burger
This is definitely not your average hamburger. Tender filet mignon meat hand crafted into the best burger you’ve ever had. The burger is cooked your way and topped with Gorgonzola cheese and caramelized onions. One bite will make you a fan for life!
Serafina offers this classic with a number of unique options, including whole wheat crust. Choose the basic with San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil, and olives; the V.I.P. version with imported Italian “fior di latte” mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil; the D.O.C. option with tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, and cherry tomatoes; or the Regina, with fresh Italian buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil.
